Being home to more than 250 butterfly species, Hong Kong is a "butterfly paradise”. Among them, we can find the Swallowtail, which is under second-class national protection; and Grass Jewel, one of the world’s smallest butterflies. However, there are still many unprotected butterfly hotspots facing risk of being destroyed by developments.

Green Power launched Hong Kong’s first citizen butterfly survey in 2008. To date, we have more than 200 butterfly surveyors. Discovering Butterflies - Hong Kong’s First Citizen Butterfly Survey celebrates the accomplishments of butterfly surveyors over the years. Readers get to see unprotected butterfly hotspots in Hong Kong and the significant findings and records of the surveyors; they can also explore butterflies and discover the pleasures and challenges of being a butterfly surveyor in Hong Kong.
