Hiking up the trails Cleaning up the trails

More than 10 million visitors visit the country’s parks every year, generating an estimated 3,000 tonnes of rubbish. This is an overwhelming amount of rubbish!

Littering in the countryside is not only an eyesore, it is also an environmental hygiene issue. Wild animals may develop the habit of picking on the food remains left behind and affect their foraging habits in the long run. They may even mistakenly consume rubbish like plastic bags when attracted by the lingering smell from the food packaging, and threaten their own life.

Inconsiderate visitors may leave behind their rubbish when they visit the countryside. Even the rubbish in the rubbish bins could be blown up by the wind or rummaged through by wild animals, and scattered across the countryside.

To tackle this littering problem, we cannot do without clean up campaign and Take Your Own Litter Home. In addition to organising Hiking x Eco Clean Up Actions, we also hold promotional activities at various popular recreational areas and in schools to encourage the public clear their own litter and reduce waste at the source.
