We are looking for an active team member, who is passionate about environmental conservation and habitat management. He will mainly assist in our Habitat Management Services in Long Valley Nature Park. The project includes multiple aspects, including wetland habitat management, conservation agriculture and staff supervision.
Duties:
- Implement habitat management, restoration and modification works on-site.
- Supervise and manage more than 20 frontline workers, such as to schedule their work shifts, conduct staff trainings and handle payroll.
- Coordinate ecological surveys, collect and analyse ecological data to inform habitat management decisions.
- Organise and lead activities for schools and the community, such as nature tours, school talks, etc.
- Design and produce educational materials, such as websites and videos.
- Prepare monthly work plans and reports for government's perusal.
- Communicate with different stakeholders, including government representatives, local farmers and villagers.
Basic requirements:
- Bachelor degree or above, major in ecology, environmental science, biological science, geography or relevant subjects.
- At least 1 year's full-time working experience in wetland habitat management; and 1 year's full-time working experience at supervisory level (candidates with less experience may also be employed as Assistant Supervisor).
- Ability to perform simultaneous duties in different areas at the same time.
- Should be a detailed-oriented person with strong self-learning ability and problem-solving skills, ready for a rapid working environment as adaptive management are often adopted in the wetland conservation projects.
- Species identification and ecological research skills in one or more areas (including but not limited to terrestrial, freshwater and butterfly ecology) will be an advantage.
- Experience in conducting ecological surveys, leading outdoor activities, organising promotional and educational activities will be an advantage.
Must be / have:
- Outdoor and nature lover.
- Physical fitness to work outdoor.
- Knowledge in ecology of Hong Kong and other local environmental issues.
- Keen to take on new challenges and interact with people.
This position bases in Long Valley Nature Park in Sheung Shui, and needs to work outdoor frequently. Two rest days will be offered per week. Candidate may be required to work on Saturday, Sunday or public holidays on shift. Standard working time is from 08:30 to 17:30.
