Fanling Environmental Resource Centre

Established in 2003, Fanling Environmental Resource Centre is the largest environmental resource centre (about 400m² total floor area) in Hong Kong. The centre has been managed by Green Power since 1 February 2016, aiming at arousing environmental consciousness of the general public by means of education. The centre is also an excellent venue for environmental education for schools, community organisations and residents in the North District.

Exhibition Hall  –
Setting up thematic display areas to provide varied environmental knowledge to the citizens.
  • Clean Air for You and Me: Air Quality Health Index (AQHI), the sources of air pollutants, measures to improve air quality, different emission levels of air pollutants generated by various types of vehicles.
  • World of Silence: Highlights the sources of noise pollution, control methods and the mitigation measures.
  • Reduce Waste, Start from Me: Demonstrates different waste types and waste reduction methods.
  • Protect Our Water Resources: Introduces wastewater treatment, beach water quality grading and Harbour Area Treatment Scheme.
  • Environmental Planning and Assessment: Showcases the Environmental Impact Assessment process, environmental measures and environmental management systems that can be set up within organisations.
  • Community Education Interactive Station: Introduces local environmental promotion programmes for schools, communities and international organisations.
  • Enforcement: Features in the works of Environmental Protection Department in enforcing environmental legislations.
  • Global Environmental Issues: Illustrates global environmental issues, including acid rain, greenhouse effect, ozone layer depletion, loss of species… etc.
  • Indoor Air Quality: Demonstrates the sources of common IAQ pollutants, ways to improve IAQ and the IAQ Certification Scheme.
Green Wisdom Library  –
Provides Chinese and English books related to environmental topics, periodicals and EIA reports. The library also provides various board games for environmental education.
Computer Gallery  –
Provides computer games for deepening environmental awareness.
Lecture Room  –
Can hold up to 80 participants with good matching computers and audio-visual system. Excellent for conducting workshops and various activities.

Visits  –
The Centre is open to the public with no entry fees. Meanwhile, we offer guided tours to schools and community groups by prior booking.
Workshops  –
Free "Lunch workshop" is organised for general public every Saturday, for example:
  • Big Waster   –   Using old clothes to make Big Waster Dolls.
  • Towel Dog Making   –   Using old hand towels to make a funny Towel Dog.
  • Halloween Mask Party   –   Using waste paper to create your unique mask.
