Gems of Lantau

Lantau, the largest island of Hong Kong, has for a long time been home to sparse settlements due to its primarily mountainous terrain, remoteness and accessibility limited to boat in the past. This all changed at the close of the 20th century, when a series of infrastructure projects were carried out. Fortunately, Lantau today still preserves most of its relatively pristine wilderness, unique country culture and historical heritage.

Traversing the east, central and western parts of the island, this book will unfold the extraordinary array of nature and humanity — tradition and modernity, highlands and lowlands, vitality and tranquility - all vying for your eyes and appreciation. Selected works of the three eminent local photographers, Kelvin Yuen, Will Cho and Tugo Cheng, which were showcased in an exhibition under the same project, are also included in this book.
