The progamme, echoing with local education development, incorporated concepts of butterfly conservation with the four disciplines - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The scheme guided students to appreciate and explore the nature, and to experience hands-on multi-discipline learning.
During the preparation period, primary school students designed and established their own butterfly gardens, nurtured butterflies from caterpillars to adults, and conducted various experiments and studies regarding the behaviour of different speices. After collection and analysis of the data, they were invited to give presentation of their results. Through applying the knowledge at textbooks in scientific research, the programme welcomed students to explore ecological conservation from new angles, cultivated students’ creativity and problem-solving skills, as well as boosting their team-player spirit in facilitating the project.
