Fanling Environmental Resource Centre


Promote environmental consciousness by means of education and activities.
Provide a venue for environmental education for schools, community organisations and residents in the North District.

Opened in 2003, with the total floor area of about 400 square metres; The largest Environmental Resource Centre in Hong Kong,

Green Power started to operate the Centre since 1 Feb 2016.
1. Exhibition Hall  

Clean Air for You and Me

This zone introduces Air Quality Health Index (AQHI), the source of air pollutants, measures to improve air quality, and different emission levels generated by various types of vehicles.

World of Silence

This zone introduces the sources of noise pollution, control methods and the mitigation measures.


Reduce Waste, Start from Me

This zone introduces different waste types and waste reduction methods.


Protect Our Water Resources

This zone introduces wastewater treatment, beach water quality grading and Harbour Area Treatment Scheme.


Environmental Planning and Assessment

This zone introduces Environmental Impact Assessment process, environmental measures and environmental management systems of organizations.


Community Education Interactive Station

This zone introduces the local environmental promotion programmes with schools, local community and international organizations.



This zone introduces the works of environmental protection department in enforcing the environmental legislations and the partnerships built with different industries.


Global Environmental Issues

This zone introduces the global environmental issues included acid rain, greenhouse effect, ozone layer depletion, loss of species etc.


Indoor Air Quality

This zone introduces the sources of common IAQ pollutants, ways to improve IAQ and the IAQ Certification Scheme.

2. Green Wisdom Library  
  Our library collects Chinese and English books related to environmental topics, periodicals and EIA reports. Also provided with board games for environmental education.  
3. Computer Gallery  
  Computer games are provided to arouse public's environmental awareness.  
4. Lecture Room  
  Can hold up to 80 people and equipped with computer and audio-visual system. Suitable to conduct workshops and various activities.  



The Centre is opened to public with free admission.

Guided visits are offered to schools and community groups through booking in advance.


Free "Lunch workshop" is organized for public every Saturday, for example:

Halloween Mask Party – using waste paper to create your unique mask.
Towel Dog Making – using old hand towel to make a funny Towel dog.
Big Waster- using old clothes to make a Big Waster Dolls.
