• Accessible fresh water only accounts for less than 1% of the world’s water resources
  • Nearly 700 million people around the world lack access to clean drinking water
  • Average daily domestic water use per capita in Hong Kong is 18% more than the global average
  • Hong Kong's daily water use generates some 1,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide, intensifying global warming
  • Showers and baths use the most water in a household
  • Take 5-minute showers and you can help reduce 11kg of carbon dioxide every year towards an annual cut of 78,000 tonnes for Hong Kong

Are you ready to join "5-minute Shower Challenge"?

"5-minute Shower Challenge" is the first large-scale water-saving and low-carbon campaign to echo the World Water Day designated by the United Nations on 22 March each year, which is organized by Green Power. We urge Hong Kongers to practice 5-minute shower to cut carbon with shorter showers to combat global warming.

Since its launch in October 2011, around 260 schools, 210,000 students and members of the public have supported and participated in "5-minute Shower Challenge".
